Tips for Better Sleep

We all love to sleep but most of us overlook the importance of having 8 hours of sleep each night. Leading a demanding lifestyle while trying to balance work, social life and your fitness level as well as adding the combination of stimulants like caffeine and energy drink can have many effects on your body and mental state. At times, you could be so exhausted that you would find it difficult to simply switch off and disconnect from your hectic day resulting in a lack of sleep.

Lack of sleep can cause several symptoms such as developing cold like symptoms, muscle aches, loss of coherent speech and focus, affecting your performance during the day. To help you relax and unwind, our Wellbeing Expert Julie Whitehead shares her tips on how to relax and prepare yourself for a good night’s sleep that you’ve been dreaming about.

  1. At least an hour before bed start to wind down by not looking at phones and e-mails or watching highly active or violent films. The blue light from devices prevents the release of the sleep hormone Melatonin, so never charge your phone in your bedroom. This will also help you disconnect from work and help refresh your mind when you wake up.
